As a civil engineering student, I am proud to reflect on my team's award-winning project from 2021, which focused on manufacturing low-cost wall paint by including natural waste products. This project has played an integral role in my ongoing commitment to sustainability, and it is an accomplishment that I am truly proud of.

Our project aimed to address two critical issues: the increasing cost of wall paint and the environmental degradation caused by waste disposal. We decided to focus on natural waste products such as eggshells and banana peels, which are widely available and often discarded. We sought to find a way to use these waste products to create an environmentally-friendly paint that was both low-cost and effective.

The project required a great deal of research and experimentation, as we needed to find the appropriate combination of materials to produce a high-quality paint. We used a ball mill to grind the eggshells and banana peels into a fine powder, which we then added to the paint mixture. After several rounds of testing, we were able to develop a formula for the paint that was durable, long-lasting, and eco-friendly.

The cost savings of our paint was a significant benefit, making it an excellent option for low-income households and communities. Additionally, the inclusion of natural waste products helped reduce the amount of waste that would have otherwise ended up in landfills, which is an essential aspect of sustainability.

As a civil engineering student, sustainability is a crucial aspect of my education and future career. Our project helped me gain a deeper understanding of the importance of sustainability in engineering, particularly in the construction industry. The experience has also taught me the value of research, experimentation, and problem-solving, which are all critical skills that I can apply in my future work.

Winning the Student Project of the Year award was a great honor for our team, and it has motivated us to continue pursuing sustainable solutions to real-world problems. As a civil engineering student, I am excited to continue exploring sustainable engineering practices that can help make a positive impact on the world. I am proud of the work that we accomplished, and I believe that it serves as an excellent example of what can be achieved through innovation, collaboration, and a commitment to sustainability.
